VolMax — Privacy Policy

Summary

VolMax does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

What data is stored

VolMax uses your browser's extension storage to remember:

• Per-tab audio settings (volume, EQ, toggles) in session storage — deleted when the tab or the browser session closes
• Saved profiles (name + settings) in local storage — kept until you delete them
• Pinned sites (site name + settings) in local storage — kept until you unpin them
• Preferences in local storage: volume step, tab icon dot on/off, compact mode, and the support banner dismiss flag
• Prompt timing in local storage: the install date, how often the popup was opened, and which prompts you closed, so the rating card and the "What's new" line show at the right time

This data never leaves your browser. It is not sent to any server, analytics service, or third party. Profiles leave extension storage only when you export them to a JSON file yourself.

Permissions explained

• activeTab — lets VolMax work on the current tab when you open its popup, even if site access is limited
• scripting — needed to inject the audio processing script into pages after an extension update
• storage — needed to save your volume settings and profiles locally
• host_permissions (<all_urls>) — needed so the content script can capture and boost audio on any website

Network access

VolMax makes no network requests of its own. It does not contain analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, or ads. There is no server component. To draw the tab icon dot, the browser may load the page's own favicon again, anonymously. You can turn the dot off. The Rate and Support buttons open external pages only when you click them.

When you uninstall VolMax, your browser opens a page on GitHub Pages. Its address carries only the VolMax version and your browser name. It carries nothing else, and the page sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.

The feedback menu links (report a bug, suggest a feature, email the developer) and the help page open only when you click them. They send nothing by themselves. Any details they prefill, such as the VolMax version, browser version and site name, appear in the form or email for you to read, change or delete before you send it.

Third-party services

None. VolMax is entirely self-contained.

Data sharing

Your data is never shared with anyone. VolMax has no mechanism to transmit data externally.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is ever updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. The core commitment — no data collection — will not change.
